Hi I am Holly Bickerstaffe. I am a license massage therapist, health and life coach. I am also a certified aromatherapist and herbalist. My physical location is Tranquility Wellness Center, which I own, in Westford Mass. I started doing massage therapy in 2006. That is when self care has become increasingly important to me and the clients I serve.
Self Care manifests differently in everyone, but is not always understood. Self Care is perceived as luxury, and/or selfish. Which is not the case, it is an absolute necessity for combatting stress, anxiety, preventing burnout and enabling you to remain calm, focused and centered; all of which is essential for doing your job well. It is also about knowing what we need to do in order to take care of ourselves, being subsequently, able to take care of others as well. That is, if I don’t take care of myself, I won’t be able to care for my loved ones either. In my Life Coaching, I support women with ADHD.
Women who have a shot working memory, find it hard to reengage in goals after being distracted and suffer from these stressful situations. I grew up with ADD and a brother who had ADHD. I was allergic to the only medication they had out at the time, so I had to learn coping skills at a young age. As an adult I decided to go down the route of owning my own business. As things grew, things became more unmanageable and all over the place. I knew what I had to do, but I couldn’t get myself to “Just Do It”.
I was already in the wellness industry, so I looked at everything I already had at my fingertips. I did relate to meds, which is not a bad thing, but I hated the side affects. The meds helped me focus on what I needed to at that time. The side affects gave me the push to try more natural remedies. Now that I found things that work and helped me on a more natural level, I want to share them!
